1 Pick your angle & platform

Pick a newsletter platformMatch it to your goal (growth, monetization). Newsletter-native tools have referral and ad features built in.
Authenticate your sending domainSPF/DKIM/DMARC so your emails land in the inbox from day one (see the deliverability checklist).
Decide your cadence before launchWeekly is the sweet spot for most. Pick something you can sustain for 6 months.

2 Set up the basics

Build a simple, mobile-first templateMost opens are on mobile. Clean text, one column, clear links.
Create a signup / landing pageOne sentence on what they get + how often. Make subscribing one click.
Write a welcome emailSet expectations, deliver a quick win, and tell new subscribers what to do next.

3 Get your first subscribers

Tap your existing audiencePersonally invite contacts, post on your socials, add it to your email signature and bio links.
Put signup forms everywhereWebsite, blog posts, link-in-bio, pinned posts — remove every barrier to subscribing.
Turn on a referral programReward subscribers for sharing — one of the cheapest ways newsletters grow.
Cross-promote with similar newslettersRecommend each other; use boosts/recommendation networks where available.

4 Publish consistently

Ship on a fixed scheduleConsistency builds the habit on both sides. Same day, same time.
Write a strong subject lineIt decides your open rate — keep it specific, avoid spam triggers (test it with the subject line tester).
One clear idea per issueA focused, useful issue gets read and forwarded; a sprawling one gets archived.
Clean your list & watch metricsTrack opens/clicks, remove dead addresses, re-engage or sunset inactives to protect deliverability.

5 Monetize

Offer paid subscriptionsA premium tier (bonus issues, archive, community) once you have a loyal core.
Add relevant affiliate linksRecommend tools you actually use, with clear disclosure.
Sell your own productA course, template or service — your list is the warmest audience you'll ever have.

Growth rule: publish something genuinely useful, on a schedule, and make it easy to share. Consistency + a referral loop beats any one-off growth hack.
